Dead by Daylight’s 2v8 Is Back, Launching "Play-While-You-Wait” Feature

·

Dead by Daylight’s 2v8 Game Mode is back for a fourth time, bringing several quality-of-life iterations that should help improve the overall experience. While this iteration will not feature any new Killers, we have taken measures to help address some of the downtime during the matchmaking process.

WHEN: August 19th 11 AM ET – Sept. 2nd 11 AM ET

Play-While-You-Wait

Whether you’re new to 2v8 or a returning player, you may be familiar with the elephant in the room. No, not The Clown in his Mr. Puddles attire. We’re talking about the extensive queue times, which can leave many Killer players checking their proverbial watches in frustration.

While we’re still working on a long-term solution, we're testing a new Beta feature that should help you kill time in a more entertaining fashion. Basically, Killer players will be able to play a match in the 2v8 Survivor queue if they want , while retaining their place in the Killer queue. To help inform whether you’d like to step into a game, we’ll be displaying your 2v8 queue time.

We hope this helps ease some of the pain caused by extensive wait times, and while a Survivor game might not be what you initially queued up for, at least you’ll have the option to play the game instead of idling.

Legion Rework

Many players expressed concern that the murderous quartet of bloodthirsty Canadians was a little too overbearing. Whether it was the Survivor experience of remaining perpetually injured, or the sensory overload stemming from a critical mass of Killer Instinct, we heard your feedback loud and clear.

In any case, we’re tweaking The Legion’s 2v8 kit to more accurately reflect the Mode’s high-octane gameplay and ensure an enjoyable playing experience for all sides.

To start, we’ll be slightly decreasing the amount of time The Legion spends within Frenzy, as well as decreasing the amount of visible Killer Instinct Targets. The Susie’s Mixtape Terror Radius bonus will be removed, and we’ll be reducing the amount of hits required to down a Survivor while in Feral Frenzy.

Survivor Class Updates: Guide

While we’re generally satisfied with the state of each Survivor Class, we’ve heard feedback that The Guide could use increased interaction with The Killer. We’re addressing that by incorporating two Perks into their kit: Blast Mine and Wiretap. We’ve also added the Perk Wake Up to give them a tool during the Endgame Collapse.

Take a look at The Guide’s updated kit:

Guide – Class Skill

  • While Repairing Generators, reveal the auras of the generator and yourself to other Survivors.
  • While opening Exit gates, reveal your aura to other Survivors up to 128m. You open exit gates 15% faster.
  • After completing 40% worth of repair progress on a Generator, gain a Blast Mine.

Guide - Info Skill (unchanged)

  • Reveal the aura of any generator that has not been fully repaired within 32 meters. The Guide sees the auras of the 4 generators that are closest to one another.

Guide - Unlockable Skill

  • After completing 35% repair progress on a Generator, automatically install a Wiretap.

We hope these changes make the Guide feel more desirable to play, because let’s be honest – who doesn’t love setting off a well-timed Wiretap?

Survivor Class Update: Escapist

We’ve made a small tweak to the Escapist, granting an Active Ability that can be triggered at a time of your choosing. When used, all Survivors in The Escapist’s vicinity will gain a temporary sprint boost and have all Rushed Actions silenced. Afterward, they will become Exhausted.

This will prevent instances where players became Exhausted simply by sprinting while near an Escapist.

NEW MAP ADDITIONS

We’ve got a few new Maps coming for this go-around. Look for Greenville Square, Lérys Memorial Institute, and Shattered Square to enter the rotation, with more to come in future iterations.

UNLOCKABLE REWARDS

If you’re looking to earn some rewards, participating in 2v8 will net you the Gory Piñata Charm, the Dwight-focused Life of the Party Portrait, and the Claudette-focused Sharing Time Portrait. Beyond that, we’ll also be running daily login rewards for the duration of the Game Mode!

That’s it for this version of 2v8, and we’re looking forward to another edition of this thrilling game mode. See you in The Fog!
