When the dusk turns full dark, it comes. Dead by Daylight’s Roots of Dread Chapter has arrived, featuring a new Killer – The Dredge – and a new Survivor, Haddie Kaur. Together, they bring six new unique perks into The Fog. A new map, the disquieting Garden of Joy, is available for all players – as is a new general perk, Shattered Hope. Purchasing this add-on from platform stores also unlocks an exclusive outfit for Haddie: The Pale Piped Shirt. NEW KILLER – THE DREDGE
A twisted abomination too disturbing to bear, The Dredge’s malevolence is palpable. All light slowly drains in its presence, surrounding Survivors in deep darkness. Using lockers as map-wide gateways, it can emerge at any moment, seemingly everywhere at once.
POWER
REIGN OF DARKNESS
Special Ability – Nightfall: At the start of a trial, the Nightfall countdown begins. After a duration, the entire map becomes temporarily shrouded in darkness. While The Dredge is accustomed to it, Survivors are left disoriented. Simple navigation becomes a matter of life and death.
Nightfall can be accelerated by injuring Survivors, hooking Survivors, or teleporting to lockers. It also at builds at a faster rate when a Survivor is injured, or The Dredge is in a locker.
Special Ability – The Gloaming: The Dredge can activate The Gloaming, leaving a Remnant behind. While The Gloaming is activated, The Dredge can teleport to any lockers across the map, allowing for heightened mobility and surprise attacks. Be warned – Survivors can barricade lockers to impede your process. Otherwise, The Dredge can return to its Remnant.
The Dredge’s Perks:
Darkness Revealed: Upon opening a locker, reveal the aura of all Survivors in the vicinity of any locker.
Dissolution: After injuring a Survivor, Dissolution activates for a duration. During that time, if a Survivor performs a fast vault on a pallet in your Terror Radius, that pallet is destroyed at the end of the vault action.
Septic Touch: Whenever a Survivor heals within your Terror Radius, they are inflicted with Blindness and Exhaustion. Those status effects briefly remain after the healing action is interrupted.
NEW SURVIVOR – HADDIE KAUR
Plagued by chilling visions of the inexplicable, Haddie Kaur is driven to brave the perils of the unknown. Possessing the ability to see realms beyond our own, she knows more about the encroaching darkness than most. Perhaps that’s why she’s not afraid to face danger with flashlight in hand.
Haddie Kaur’s Perks:
Inner Focus: See the scratch marks of all nearby teammates. Should a teammate lose a health state while in your vicinity, the Killer’s aura is briefly revealed.
Residual Manifest: After successfully blinding the Killer, the Killer will gain the Blindness status effect, briefly losing the ability to see auras. In addition, gain the ability to rummage through an opened chest once per trial for a guaranteed basic flashlight.
Overzealous: After cleansing any totem, your generator repair speed is slightly increased. The increase ends whenever you lose a health state.
NEW MAP – GARDEN OF JOY
In this tainted garden, dreadful roots spread through blood-drenched soil. A withered mansion, twisted by unfathomable darkness, casts a long and maddening shadow. Welcome to the Garden of Joy, a once-vibrant island community built on one man's vision: to create a place removed from dark thought and moral corruption, where potential could truly prosper. At least, that was the plan...

NEW PERK: SHATTERED HOPE
In addition to The Dredge and Haddie Kaur’s character perks, Roots of Dread will also introduce a new general Killer perk to the pool: Shattered Hope. This perk is well-suited for those who hold the unwavering belief that all Boon Totems must be sought out and destroyed. Shattered Hope: Instead of snuffing a Boon Totem, gain the ability to destroy it. Upon doing so, the auras of all Survivors in the Boon radius are briefly revealed.
PRESET LOADOUTS
In addition to the Roots of Dread Chapter, this update also introduces a much-requested feature: Preset Loadouts.
Moving forward, players will have the option to save up to three preset loadouts with their favorite perks, items, add-ons, and offerings. There will also be an additional three loadouts for saving outfits and charms. We hope you enjoy experimenting with plenty of different builds while highlighting your unique sense of style. After all, there truly is an outfit for every occasion.
NEW COLLECTIONS IN STORE
Speaking of outfits, Chapter 24 is bringing several new cosmetics into the Dead by Daylight in-game store.
Highlight the grotesque horror of The Dredge with the Malicious Mannequin Collection, bringing childhood fears to life with the VERY RARE Twisted Plaything outfit. Give Haddie Kaur a well-deserved beach day with the Waterfront Massacre Collection, which returns in time for the summer. Don't expect any R&R, however – not while there are shipwrecks to explore. Gear up with the VERY RARE Overlap Diver outfit, as well as new outfits for Mikaela Reid and Felix Richter.
Both Collections are now available in Dead by Daylight’s in-game store.
MENU VISUAL UPDATE
You may have noticed that the main menu has undergone a visual change. From now on, all buttons will be presented in a vertical column on the leftmost side of the screen. This allows us additional space for highlighting events, sharing important information, a timer for the Rift, additional room for translations, and more.
We hope the arrival of Chapter 24: Roots of Dread brings a welcome dose of horror action to Dead by Daylight. It’s a Chapter we’ve been very excited about, and we’re thrilled to bring these new additions into the game. May those childhood fears of the dark be reawakened in The Fog.
