Dead by Daylight: Resident Evil: PROJECT W is now available, featuring three iconic characters from Capcom’s legendary series: Albert Wesker (The Mastermind), Ada Wong, and Rebecca Chambers.
Anyone familiar with Resident Evil already knows what Wesker is capable of. A visionary as brilliant as he is ruthless, his mind for strategy is unrivalled. Having embraced the gift of the Uroboros, his ability to overpower Survivors with near-supernatural strength and speed makes him a constant threat.
With the infamous antagonist officially spreading Uroboros throughout The Fog, you’ll need survival instincts worthy of S.T.A.R.S. to stand a chance. After all, even the best laid plans can derail once Albert Wesker dashes toward you at full speed.
3 TIPS FOR SURVIVING AGAINST ALBERT WESKER
ANTICIPATE THE DASH
If you find yourself being chased by The Mastermind, it helps to anticipate the use of his Virulent Bound Power. If you’re not familiar, Wesker can charge a dash Attack and rush toward you. If he makes contact, it can be deadly – especially if you’re infected by the Uroboros. When you see a black Uroboros tentacle emerge from his left arm, he’s in the process of charging an Attack.
Try to avoid open areas in a chase, as it will be easier for Wesker to intercept you. Instead, seek out loops with tight corners and make it more difficult for Wesker to pursue you. Though it’s certainly possible for a skilled Wesker player to land a hit in these areas, luring Wesker into unfavourable loops will increase the likelihood of a cooldown from a bungled dash.
UNDERSTANDING UROBOROS
If you notice your body is covered in writhing black slug-like tentacles, don’t panic. That’s the Uroboros Infection taking hold. Once Infected, track the Infection Meter on your character portrait. When it’s full, you will be inflicted with the Hindered Status Effect, which will slow down your movement speed considerably.
Another downside of being fully Infected is Wesker’s ability to instantly place you in the Carried State with a Virulent Bound Attack. It’s in your best interest to seek out one of the Supply Crates scattered around the map, but don’t be greedy – those are meant for your entire team. A word of warning, however – upon using a First Aid Spray, Wesker will be alerted to your location, so plan your escape route beforehand.
STUDY HIS PERKS
Wesker brings 3 unique character Perks into Dead by Daylight: Superior Anatomy, Awakened Awareness, and Terminus. Knowing what to expect when these Perks are in play may very well save you from the Hook.
With Superior Anatomy, fast vaulting with Wesker on your tail may prove fatal, as he will gain the ability to enact a fast vault of his own. While sometimes vaulting a window can buy you time, this Perk may ensure that Wesker commits to vaults at unexpected moments.
Awakened Awareness can catch you off guard, so it’s wise to be...aware of it. When Wesker downs a teammate and picks them up with this Perk, he’ll be able to see the Auras of all Survivors in his vicinity. Remember that when you’re hiding around the corner with flashlight in hand.
Wesker’s final Perk is Terminus, and it’s designed to give him a considerable advantage once all the Generators are powered. Any injured, downed, or Hooked Survivor will be inflicted with the Broken Status Effect for a considerable duration, preventing healing altogether. When the Exit Gates are opened, the Broken Status Effect will remain active for several nail-biting moments, making those last-minute rescues even more dangerous. Know that Wesker will punish your altruism, so coordination is encouraged – as is the judgment to make tough decisions.
BONUS TIP: DON’T LET HIS TRASH TALK TILT YOU
You may have noticed that Wesker has a penchant for a little bit of trash talk – especially when he gains the upper hand. Though it may sting a little to hear a smug “poor performance indeed” the moment you hit the floor, don’t let it get to you. He is The Mastermind after all, and that’s one of his many tools to get into your head.
Wesker can be intimidating, but with these tips, you’ll have the knowledge to anticipate the many tricks up his trench-coated sleeve.
Good luck and see you in The Fog!
