Dead by Daylight’s new Survivor Orela Rose enters The Fog with 3 unique Perks – Do No Harm, Duty of Care, and Rapid Response. If you recently picked up the character and are looking to get started with a few tips, tricks, and build ideas – we've got you covered.
How to Play as Orela Rose
On the surface, Orela’s Perks lend themselves to an altruistic playstyle, with emphasis on healing, protection, and distraction. Surrounded by pain, beckoned by death, clinging to stubborn hope – that is where she is in her element.
Do No Harm
Specialty: Healer
On death’s door, as vision fades and pulse slows down, her face is the one you want to see. The higher the stakes, the more effective she becomes at turning teammates’ misery into fresh hope.
When you heal another Survivor, for each hook state they have, heal 30/40/50% faster and gain +3/3/3% for succeeding great skill checks.
Synergistic Perks: Aftercare, Babysitter, Better Than New, Botany Knowledge, Empathy, Fast Track, We'll Make It, Desperate Measures
As far as healing Perks go, Do No Harm is an interesting one, as its value increases the worse your teammates are performing. Thematically, this honors Orela’s paramedic roots; she arrives exactly when you need her most.
While using this Perk, be mindful of your teammates Hook States. The more they add up, the more efficient you’ll be at healing them. Consider switching to a more altruistic role if the Killer is gaining momentum, as you’ll likely be the most effective at getting your teammates back to peak form.
To really make Do No Harm shine, try pairing it with Perks that synergize with Healing speed or Unhooking. Perks like Desperate Measures, We’ll Make It, and Botany Knowledge will have them back to full health in the blink of an eye, while Babysitter can give you additional knowledge of the Killer’s whereabouts.
Better Than New can set the newly healed Survivor up for success, granting them a helpful action speed bonus to potentially close out a Trial. Aftercare can also be an interesting pair, as you’ll gain the ability to keep tabs on your teammate whenever you Unhook or Heal them. On a similar note, Empathy will ensure that any injured Survivor can be quickly tracked down.
It’s also worth noting that Fast Track also grants a benefit contingent on your teammates Hook States, so it could be considered for something a little more unconventional.
Duty Of Care
Specialty: Chaser
The vulnerable must be protected at all costs, and in such dire moments there is no time for hesitation. After all, wounds will heal – provided one lives to seek future solace around the campfire.
While healthy, when you take a protection hit, all other Survivors within 16 meters gain 25% Haste for 4/5/6 seconds.
Synergistic Perks: Quick Gambit, Lightweight, Lucky Break, Dead Hard, Made For This, Overcome, Self-Care, Plot Twist
Sticking with Orela’s selfless nature, Duty of Care is all about rescuing your teammates and granting them time and space to get to safety. Be warned – this will likely put you directly in the Killer’s sights. As a result, you’ll want Perks that facilitate your getaway, as a quick downing will rapidly undo all your hard work.
Luckily, you’re the type of player that welcomes the chase, right? Right? We’ll take your word for it. In any case, you’ll want to give yourself the best chance at survival. Quick Gambit is worth consideration, as it makes every chase a little more beneficial to your teammates – especially in those crucial moments where one Generator remains.
To really confuse the Killer, consider Lightweight and Lucky Break as potential options that should help you get to safety once you’ve pulled their attention from the wounded. Of course, entering a chase might mean that you’ll end up among the wounded – such is the perilous life of a chaser.
Perks like Dead Hard and Made for This will grant you a little bit more time, while Overcome will help you gain plenty of distance and shake your pursuer in the process. Remember, every bit of distance counts, and you just need to survive long enough to help your teammates finish those Gens.
When you do manage to shake the Killer, Self-Care can also get you back in top shape, provided you’re able to find a quiet place to heal up. If you’re really feeling bold, try out Plot Twist for a high-risk, high-reward alternative.
Rapid Response
Speciality: Diversionist, Scout
To stay one step ahead of danger, you must anticipate its every move. Sometimes, doing that requires putting yourself directly in harm’s way. Yet in doing so, perhaps someone’s life may be spared in the process...
When you rush-exit a locker, gain Exhausted for 30/30/30 seconds. When you gain Exhausted, if you do not already have Exhausted, see the Killer's aura for 1/1.5/2 seconds.
Synergistic Perks: Diversion, Head On, Inner Strength, Lucky Star, Quick and Quiet.
There’s something to be said about a person who dares face danger head-on, and that’s exactly the sort of person you want when the chips are down. When you rush exit a Locker, you’ll immediately see The Killer’s Aura, allowing you to consider your next move.
Of course, the Killer will be notified with an alert, which could very well lead them directly to you. That’s not necessarily a bad thing, as you may very well be drawing them away from a teammate in need. You’ll also have the benefit of expecting them, so you can prepare your escape plan accordingly.
If you really want to confuse the Killer, consider adding Diversion to your loadout, which can potentially throw them off your trail. If you prefer to avoid attracting them altogether, Quick & Quiet will be your best friend, preventing the Loud Noise notification entirely. That way, you can covertly scout information, provided you’re mindful of managing your Exhaustion state. Inner Strength can also add additional Locker synergy, so consider cleansing a Totem at some point in the Trial.
Orela’s Perks allow for a versatile playstyle, providing a well-rounded toolkit that can turn the tide in a high-stakes Trial. They can also synergize effectively with other Survivor Perks, which can be unlocked by levelling up different characters or from the Shrine of Secrets.
