Watch two hours to unlock the Purple Campfire Charm, watch four hours to unlock the Purple Medkit Badge, and watch six hours to take home a Bloodpoints Banner.
All Things Wicked Is Inspired By Analog Horror
Dead by Daylight’s Creative Director Dave Richard reveals that the unsettling subgenre of Analog Horror was the inspiration for All Things Wicked. One of the most chilling aspects of Analog Horror is the familiarity factor – it could be taking place in your own backyard, with you being none the wiser.
In the case of The Unknown, it was important to evoke that strange feeling you experience upon seeing an inexplicable thing in a picture, or perhaps some security footage floating around the internet. You might not have the answers, but doesn’t it get your imagination racing?
Sable and Mikaela Have History
It’s not the first time Survivors have had a pre-Fog connection – that would be the Lyra siblings – but Sable Ward and Mikaela are the first friends to be reunited in The Fog. Unlike the siblings, who entered The Fog together, Sable actively went looking for her best friend Mikaela when she disappeared after her reading at the Moonstone coffee shop.
The team was excited to explore their friendship further, and we had a great time exploring Sable’s affinity for the darkness while bringing her story and aesthetic to life. We also wanted to showcase the difference in their personalities through their Perks; while Mikaela creates Boons, Sable turns to a more...questionable place for assistance.
Greenville Square Is Filled With Nostalgic Easter Eggs
The Greenville Square Map is part of the Garden of Joy Realm, which represents an Entity-fied vision of middle America. The team explains that the memories The Entity drew to conjure it are based in the 90s, during which time Sable and Mikaela were watching horror movies at the local theatre.
Dead by Daylight’s Associate Art Director Chase Toole reveals that the team was inspired by their own experiences at the theatre, filling the arcade and posters with references to classic horror. The team even carried those cinematic influences into the Map’s aesthetic, with The Entity’s presence mirroring the effect of overexposed film – known in the industry as cigarette burns.
The Blood Moon Rises
With blood playing such a vital role in Dead by Daylight, it felt only fitting to make it the central focus of our upcoming Event. Behold the Blood Moon, arising with unique gameplay, a new Event Tome, and plenty of elegantly sanguine Outfits for Survivor and Killer alike.
We want this to be a time where Bloodpoints rain down on our players. Simply put, this will be the best moment to earn Bloodpoints of the year. To help with that, we’ve got another Tome worth of Community Challenges to complete, with one crucial addition. The higher the progression on the Community Track, the higher the Bloodpoint bonus will be for everyone!
Slipknot Collection Is Coming
Slipknot is officially getting their own Dead by Daylight Collection, with 8 new Cosmetics inspired by the iconic masks of the band’s core members. The Collection includes 7 Masks and one complete Outfit for The Legion , inspired by Slipknot’s frontman Sid Wilson.
As for the Masks – we’ve got The Wraith’s Metallic Grill, based on guitarist Mick Thomson. The Deathslinger has Dominant Eye, based on guitarist Jim Root. The Clown has Grim Circus, based on Custom Percussionist Shawn Crahan. The Hillbilly’s Engraved Flesh, based on Percussionist Michael Pfaff. The Doctor’s Zipper Mouthpiece is based on Slipknot’s keyboardist, who remains unknown. And lastly, The Trapper’s Ashen Quake is based on lead vocalist Corey Taylor.
Roadmap Changes
On the gameplay side, we also checked in with an update to our roadmap. If you caught our previous broadcast, you might not notice too much has changed, as we’re still on track to deliver our previously announced Killer Updates to The Twins and The Blight.
We’ve also got a few updates planned to the Perks Ultimate Weapon, Decisive Strike, and Adrenaline, as well as a Haddonfield Map rework. Look for these to arrive between April and June.
