Dead by Daylight recently hit up PAX East for a live presentation of the Year 9 Anniversary Broadcast, revealing that Springtrap will officially be the Killer of the upcoming Five Nights At Freddy’s Chapter.
Beyond that, the presentation also included a sneak peek at an incredible Springtrap Legendary Outfit featuring Matthew Lillard, and more.
And that’s only one segment.
Couldn’t catch the Year 9 Anniversary Broadcast? Here’s everything you missed, summarized for your convenience.
But First, Reflection
Nine years of Dead by Daylight. Feels a bit surreal, doesn’t it? It’s fair to say our game has evolved throughout the years, with countless new characters, a slew of Perks, and some of the most ambitious Killer Powers yet. Not to mention...a dog.
This past year saw the arrival of Dungeons & Dragons, Tomb Raider, Castlevania, Doomed Course, Tokyo Ghoul, and Steady Pulse. It also saw the start of a lengthy quality of life initiative, with the intention of addressing longstanding pain points, performance issues, and general game health. In addition, we sought to continuously improve our communication and transparency, vocalizing our design intentions more than ever before.
If you haven’t yet skipped down to the new stuff, we’d like to thank you for spending this quality time with us in The Fog. We truly believe we have the best community in gaming, and thanks to you we're able to work on the game we love and keep pushing the world of Dead by Daylight to new heights.
Trust us when we say this next year is going to be one huge one for us, and we’re kicking it off with not a bang, but a jump scare.
Five Nights At Freddy’s
Springtrap is coming!
Ever since we first revealed that we were cooking up a Five Nights at Freddy’s Chapter, it became abundantly clear how many of our players were passionate about the franchise. As a continuous topper of our “most-desired license” surveys, we knew there was a lot of hype about its arrival.
While we’re not quite ready to take this pizza entirely out of the oven, we did reveal a little bit of what’s to come with Springtrap’s arrival as Dead by Daylight’s next Killer.
We also premiered the first Legendary Outfit dropping alongside the Chapter, with a first look at one based on Matthew Lillard’s portrayal of Springtrap in the 2023 film.
Steady Pulse
Time slows down. Calm settles in. Not even the looming shadow of a Killer can break her focus. If there are people in need, Orela Rose will save their lives – or die trying.
Have you checked out our newest Survivor, Orela Rose? Swept into The Fog in the Steady Pulse Chapter, Orela’s selfless altruism and fearless disposition makes her the ideal teammate. If you haven’t already, now’s your chance to learn more about everything she brings to the table.
Quality of Life Initiative Phase 2: An Update
With the curtain officially raised on the Five Nights At Freddy’s Chapter, we’d like to circle back to our ongoing Quality of Life Initiative.
In case you missed it, we previously announced that we would be delaying some of our upcoming releases by approximately 3 weeks, allowing us to address several quality of life issues affecting the game. Now, we’re getting ready to kick off an ambitious new second phase, with some big plans to tackle longstanding pain points.
Here’s a brief overview of several gameplay features that will be arriving throughout the rest of 2025. With a deep dive blog offering up more on these in the coming weeks.
Keep an eye out for the complete breakdown of everything included in Phase 2 and be sure to share your thoughts in the forums, the Dead by Daylight Subreddit, or any one of our social media channels.
New Collections
The Witcher Collection Features Geralt, Leshen, Ciri, Yennefer, and More
Dead by Daylight has welcomed many legendary games over the years – Resident Evil, Silent Hill, Tomb Raider, Castlevania, Alan Wake, and of course, the recently announced Five Nights At Freddy’s among them. Now, The Witcher is the latest to enter The Fog, in the form of an upcoming new Collection inspired by some of the game’s most beloved characters.
The Collection includes Outfits inspired by Geralt of Rivia, Yennefer, Ciri, Triss, the Leshen, and Eredin.
As these are Outfits, not characters, Geralt and the others have not entered The Fog in Dead by Daylight’s canon. Instead, their appearances will be taken on by Vittorio Toscano, Kate Denson, Sable Ward, Mikeala Reid, The Artist, and The Knight.
The Casting Of Frank Stone
Last year, we teamed up with Supermassive to release The Casting of Frank Stone, a narrative game set in the world of Dead by Daylight. Now, the titular character will be making his Dead by Daylight debut, by way of a Legendary Outfit for The Trapper.
Set to drop later this year, Frank Stone will finally be able to fulfill his purpose in The Fog, slaughtering Survivors in an endless cycle of pain.
Boulet Brothers
Following last year’s Dead by Daylight-themed episode of Dragula, we’re happy to share that the Boulet Brothers will now be getting their very own Collection. It will feature two ensembles including the Winter Warrior Outfit for The Huntress, and the Boulet Brothers Artist Outfit for The Artist inspired by the Boulet Brothers themselves.
Tomb Raider
Wrapping things up, the Tomb Raider Collection is also expanding with two more iconic Outfits for Lara Croft, including one inspired by her original look.
Choose Your Own Chapter
If you ever wished you had a seat at the table when it comes to deciding how a Chapter of Dead by Daylight comes together, Creative Director Dave Richard has some good news for you.
The team is launching a new activation in the coming months that will see Dead by Daylight’s community become deeply involved in the creation of a new Chapter, set to be released sometime in 2026. This Chapter will feature both a Killer and a Survivor whose, looks, lore, and gameplay will all be decided by players via a long-running, wide-ranging series of choices, presented in narrative format, for them to vote on.
In true Choose Your Own Adventure style, each choice will spawn a series of new options as the characters evolve, with players even having the opportunity course correct with a clever “Change Your Fate” mechanic. The activation will run throughout the entire pre-production and production cycle for the new Chapter. Watch the segment for full details.
It Has My Face
We also used our stage time at PAX East to share details of an upcoming publishing partnership with NightByte Games. Behaviour Interactive will be publishing NightByte’s IT HAS MY FACE, a first-person roguelite set in a dystopian city where you’ll have to find and kill your clone… before it kills you. Check out the trailer below.
You can head to Steam to play a demo of IT HAS MY FACE right now, and wishlist the game before it launches into Early Access later this year : https://store.steampowered.com/app/2506530/
Spot the Clues
If you’ve watched any of our recent Anniversary broadcasts, you probably know we enjoy using the end of the show to drop news of an upcoming licensed Chapter we’re particularly excited about.
While we didn’t exactly break tradition this year, we opted to do things a little differently.
Closing the show, Mat Côté, Game Director on Dead by Daylight revealed that clues pointing to our next big Chapter had, in fact, been scattered throughout the broadcast. If you paid close enough attention, you might already know what it is. If not, we invite you go back through the show and see if you can figure it out for yourself before it’s officially revealed in the near future.
We hope you had fun catching up on everything announced during our 9th Anniversary Broadcast! Stay tuned for our next livestream where we’ll be revealing full Five Nights at Freddy’s gameplay, our Twisted Masquerade Event, and more as we continue the celebrations.
See you in The Fog...
